On-Snow Workshop – Snowboard
The focus of this workshop is the development of attainable, successful outcomes in snowboard teaching through the use of a number of approaches:
- The CASI beginner/novice teaching methodology – the QuickRide System – provides instructors with a flexible, outcome-based framework for teaching new snowboarders, and emphasizes the use of decision-making skills to ensure that the progression is tailored to the student demographic.
- Beyond the novice level, the use of the Core & Advanced Riding Competencies provides an outcome-based objective for intermediate and advanced skill development, as well as an Analysis & Improvement tool for instructors.
- Expert use of the Practical Teaching Skills gives instructors guidance in structuring successful lessons that emphasize client satisfaction and future retention.
Participants in our workshop will be engaged through a blend of active participation along with delivery of the technical materials from two different session leaders. Session leaders will provide demonstrations of our technical riding model, and will showcase our teaching approach with participants throughout the workshop.
Presenters from the Canadian snowboard team are all fully certified Level 4 Snowboard Instructors and Evaluators, with an active role in the Canadian snow sports industry and as members of the CASI National Technical Team. Chosen for a multitude of skills, the National Technical Team brings a well- rounded set of skills and abilities – presentation, teaching, interpersonal and expert technical / riding skills. Presenters of this workshop will bring a vast amount of experience as course facilitators both in Canada and internationally. Many of our presenters have attended more than one Interski congress.
Sessions will be delivered in English and French.
We do not have a minimum or maximum size; however, groups larger than 10 participants will lose some of the individual engagement necessary for a successful experience.
The maximum number of groups is four.
There will be 1-2 session leaders per group.
