Over 5 million leva invested in Pamporovo for Interski congress 2019
Before the opening!
Tsvetelina Borislavova, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee of the 2019 Interski Congress: Investments in Pamporovo for the 2019 Interski Congress amount to over BGN 5 million.
We are proud to play host to the 21stInterski Congress. For more than 8 years Pamporovo has been vying for the position against two very strong competitors, Sochi and Levi, and we Bulgarians certainly have a lot to be proud of.
Preparations for hosting the event have taken more than two years of hard work and organization, and over BGN 5 million in investments. Two hotels, the Perelik and the Orlovets, were completely renovated, and a convention center was built from scratch featuring five halls, one of which with a seating capacity of 1,000. The Convention Center is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and amenities, enabling it to host major international events. This is an investment in the future of the resort and the region as a whole.
We believe it is extremely important in developing and pricing the tourism product to strike the right balance between building new hotels and offering hospitality services, as well as between skiing and availability of general leisure services. Because any imbalance is liable to affect the quality of service as a whole, and therefore we are very careful not to allow it.
The capacity of ski lifts in the resort at presentis 6,000 persons per hour, but we strive to expand the capacity of the ski zone. We are working hard on the connectivity between Chepelare and Pamporovo. We are now designing the link between the zones, the blueprints are ready for four more black and red ski runs on a northern slope in the area of MechiChal as well as two more ski runs in Pamporovo, where the actual hub will be.
The social impact of hosting the congress here is very significant: ski instructors from all over the world will be training over 100 disadvantaged children from the region. To us this is extremely satisfying; the opportunity for such children not just to benefit from the knowledge and expertise of, but also to communicate with so many people from different countries is highly motivating.
During the congress there will be unique demonstrations, nighttime skiing, over 100 different events and a very busy program of activities for the entire duration. The opening and closing ceremonies will include entertainment programs highlighting the uniqueness and magic beauty of the Rhodope mountainsand Bulgaria as a whole.
